Laritza Ulloa Varela

First-Class Announcer. Daughter of the prominent Ávila announcer Ibrahim Ulloa, she was a frequent visitor to CMJP, the provincial broadcaster of Ciego de Ávila, from a very young age.

Still an adolescent, she attended as a listener a course for announcers offered by the master announcer Arquímedes Romo. According to Romo himself, when they asked him for a female voice to fill a position at the Radio Musical Avileña station, he did not hesitate to recommend Laritza, even though the course had not yet concluded.

According to Professor Romo, he had quickly realized that he was dealing with someone who had surpassed the category of a project to become a beautiful reality. And Laritza did not disappoint him.

In 1982, she was evaluated for the first time and the station had to manage a special permit to hire her, as she was only 16 years old.

She rose quickly and became an essential voice in the programming of CMJP Radio Surco, the provincial broadcaster of Ciego de Ávila. Programs featuring her voice in the presentation can still be heard on this station. From the province, she participated in some programs on national Television such as the one written by Amado Cabezas, Desde mi cuadra.

In 1986 she moved to the capital and from then on she became one of the greatest announcers in Radio and Television of all time.

In her early career she worked in the Morning Magazine, in the participation program A jugar with the unforgettable Eddy Martin, Contacto and other participation programs. She began to do news bulletins as a booth announcer, but did not go unnoticed.

Guided by her father and by one of the great announcers of this country Manolo Ortega, she made her appearance on the Noticiero Estelar of Cuban Television.

Her voice of perfect registers, impeccable diction, intonation, interpretation and rhythm, made her, in addition to a beautiful face, one of the main figures of female announcing who have appeared before the cameras of the National Television News, work that has been recognized on several occasions with the CARACOL PRIZE, from the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba.
