Singer with beautiful lyrical and expressive voice, creator of the guajira-son. His name began to become known during the danzonete era, around 1929. He joined in the following decade the orchestras "Cuba", "Cheo Belén Puig" and that of Ernesto Muñoz. He was equally in various son sextets, such as "Cauto", "Camagüey", "Facenda" and "Habanero". He directed the Hatuey sexteto.
In the mid-1940s he traveled to Mexico since he felt that he was not recognized by his countrymen as the excellent singer that he was. In the 1940s he joined several groups. In 1953 he returns to Havana and briefly joins the Sensación orchestra to replace Abelardo Barroso, joining the already famous orchestra of Chappottin.
He was a prominent interpreter of the guajira-son, which he captured in several records with his original style. He composed some works.
In 1957 he forms his conjunto Región Matancera and makes two recordings, one for the Panart label and another for Egrem.
He travels to Venezuela, upon his return he rejoins Sensación where he remains until 1958.
In 1959 he records the album Patria Querida under the direction of Pedro Justiz "Peruchín". In 1961 he moves to Panama until 1963. Cheo Marquetti died, forgotten, in 1967 at the early age of 57.
