Jorge Luis was born in Cárdenas, and since 1981 he has been settled in Paris, he is a writer.
In Cuba he studied music and percussion, before joining the Instituto Superior de Arte de La Habana, where he studied acting. He worked as an actor in Cuban television.
In Paris he studied at the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique.
He worked as an actor in France, in theater, film and television, with renowned directors and actors such as Jean Paul Belmondo, Victoria Abril, Nicole Garcia, Robert Hossein, Robert Enrico and others.
He has been a screenwriter for French television for more than twenty years. He was the founder of the first association of French screenwriters despite French not being his native language.
He has written two feature films for cinema and directed fiction shorts and documentaries. His film Habana Eva, directed by Fina Torres, won numerous awards in different fields and countries, including the Rita Award for Best Feature Film at the LALIF in Los Angeles.
'Desear en cubano' is his first novel, it was published in France by "Actes-Sud" and translated into several languages, it opened the doors to the world of literature for him. The trilogy 'Sinfonía Cubana' is his third novel, but it is the first to be published in Spanish. He writes in Spanish and French.
In the field of music he has been a singer, musician and lyricist. And he has had the privilege of working with personalities such as Alexandre Desplat (winner of two Oscars for his music), Patato Valdés, Papo Pepín, Oriente López, William Cepeda, Jimmy Bosch, Manuel Anoyvega, Victor Paz, etc. Lead singer of numerous latin-jazz, jazz and salsa groups and orchestras, he has performed on prestigious foreign and French stages, such as Le New Morning in Paris or the International Film Festival in Cannes.
