Hilda Saladrigas Medina

Bachelor's degree in Marxist-Leninist Philosophy (1988) Master's degree (2003) and doctorate (2005) in Communication from the Faculty of Communication at the University of La Habana. Researcher in media and public opinion since 1988 and professor since 1999. She has been an evaluator in national and international peer-reviewed journals on Communication. She is currently head of the Theory and Research in Communication discipline of the Department of Social Communication and president of the Academic Committee of the Master's Program in Communication at the Faculty of Communication of the University of La Habana and member of the National Court of Scientific Degrees in Communication and Information. She holds the status of expert evaluator of academic programs for the National Accreditation Board (JAN) of Cuba.

She has been Vice Dean of Teaching at the Faculty of Communication of the University of La Habana and Head of the Department of Social Communication, where she is also a Full Professor.

She is the president of the National Commission of Social Communication Programs. She was president for 10 years of the Academic Committee of the Master's Program in Communication Sciences, an Excellence Program taught in Cuba and three Mexican universities, where she is also part of the faculty.

Member of the Academic Committee of the Doctorate in Social Communication Sciences and part of the Permanent Court of Scientific Degrees in Social Communication.

She has been invited as a professor to teach research courses with emphasis on qualitative methods and techniques in the Master's Programs in Political and Organizational Communication at the Universidad del Valle de Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico (2002 and 2006), in the Social Communication Doctoral group of the Sociology VI Department of the Faculty of Information Sciences at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain (2004), in the Master's Program in Public Relations at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (2006) and in the Master's Program in Communication Sciences at the Faculty of Humanities of the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, Mexico (2011).

She is also a member of the Academic Committee and faculty of the Doctorate Program in Social Communication Sciences, an Excellence Program offered by the Faculty of Communication of the University of La Habana. She is also an adjunct professor at the Center for Studies of Radio and Television, the Training Center for Communication Development of the Cuban Association of Social Communicators, the National Center for Professional Development in Culture in Cuba and the José Martí International Institute of Journalism, all in Cuba.

She has published approximately 100 articles in national and international journals, has participated in numerous national and international events, is co-author of nine books related to communication research and author of one.

She has received National and International Awards for her research work and has obtained important institutional recognition for her teaching work. She was president of the Circle of Researchers in Communication and Marketing of the Cuban Association of Social Communicators (ACCS) and of the Communication Council of that organization. She is currently part of the Scientific and Editorial Board of important international journals indexed in databases such as Scopus, Latindex and Redalyc.

Since 2015 she is the General Secretary of the Latin Union of the Political Economy of Information, Communication and Culture (ULEPICC). She was president of the Circle of Researchers in Communication and Marketing of the Cuban Association of Social Communicators (ACCS) and of the Communication Council of that organization. She is currently part of the Scientific and Editorial Board of important international journals indexed in databases such as Scopus, Latindex and Redalyc. Since 2015 she is the General Secretary of the Latin Union of the Political Economy of Information, Communication and Culture (ULEPICC).
