He was born in Batabanó on April 8, 1903 and died in Melena del Sur on July 6, 1964. Member of the Academy of History of Cuba and the Academy of History of Peru. He collaborated with numerous magazines such as Bohemia and Cúspide. For his book José Maceo he obtained the second National Literature Prize.
A journalist and historian of great merit was Professor Gregorio Delgado. He published more than one hundred important studies on the History of Cuba and served as official historian of La Habana between 1942 and 1952.
He published a large number of articles for the magazine Cúspide, among which is On Local History where he narrates details about the founding of the town of Melena as well as various publications and analyses on the possible location of the primitive Villa de San Cristóbal de La Habana, among others.
