Premier actress and broadcaster. Acting and broadcasting have filled her artistic and professional life with meaning. She began working in Radio and Theater in 1949 and is equally recognized as a founder of Television. In Radio she worked at the different stations that existed then: RHC Cadena Azul, Radio Progreso, Radio Palace, Radio García Serra, CMW Cadena Roja, among others.
In 1950 she became part of the regular cast of Radio Progreso alongside Juanita Caldevilla, Elvira Cervera, Cuca Vázquez, Tino Acosta, Enrique Medina, Pepito Noval… in programs written by, among others, Marcos Behmaras and Enrique Cuscó. For 60 years she has been part of the artistic cast of that octogenarian station, to which she arrived in 1949, when she was still young, and in which she has remained active since those distant times when the station was located in the studios of the capital's Centro Gallego until the inauguration of the then brand-new building, located on Infanta and 25th Streets, in what is now the Centro Habana municipality.
Throughout this time, in addition to working at Radio Progreso, she also worked occasionally at CMQ, Radio Liberación, Circuito CNC, Radio Rebelde, Radio Arte, etc. Although she has never stopped working in radio, she has worked in television and theater. She was a broadcaster at Radihora while that station remained on the air, before and after the triumph of the Revolution. She is a founder of Television and has not yet retired. She has worked with directors of recognized prestige, always representing characters, sometimes as protagonists, other times in responsible roles, which has made it possible for some of these performances to be preserved within the programs selected as Heritage of our television.
Likewise, she is an Esperantist and Caribbean oral narrator. According to Cuban and foreign Esperantists, Georgina Almanza is a true expert in that universal language. She has participated in several world Esperanto congresses, where she has represented her country and performed her recital in that language to great acclaim from the public and critics. Incorporated into Oral Narration, she belongs to the group "Contarte," directed by the renowned narrator Elvia Pérez.
Recipient, in the year 2007, of the National Radio Prize awarded by the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT) for her lifetime work.
