Native of Santo Domingo, Villa Clara, Cuba, he was a Cuban revolutionary.
From high school onwards he already led revolutionary activities and participated actively in them. In 1951 he entered the University of La Habana to study Agronomy. He led protests against Fulgencio Batista's coup d'état in March 1952. After the death of Jose Antonio Echeverria he became a leader of the University Student Federation and secretary general of the Revolutionary Directorate, of which he was one of its founders.
Fructuoso was one of the young men who accompanied José Antonio Echeverría on March 13, 1957 in the assaults on Radio Reloj and the Presidential Palace of Cuba. He was caught by an informant, falling mortally wounded on April 20, 1957 along with other fellow fighters in an apartment at Humboldt 7 in the Cuban capital.
