Pancho Céspedes

Francisco Fabián Céspedes Rodríguez, known professionally as Pancho Céspedes, is a Cuban singer-songwriter born in Santa Clara on February 28, 1957. He abandoned medical studies to pursue music, becoming a key figure of Cuba's "filin" movement, known for its fusion of bolero and jazz. In 1992 he moved to Mexico, where he worked as a songwriter for Luis Miguel before launching his solo career in 1997 with "Hablo de ti," presented at the Viña del Mar Festival.

His debut album, "Vida loca" (1998), became his best-known work, followed by hits such as "¿Dónde está la vida?" (2000, certified platinum in Mexico), the Bola de Nieve tribute album "Con el permiso de Bola" (2006), and "Todavía" (2015). He has received a Grammy nomination and has built a career spanning more than three decades blending bolero, jazz and romantic balladry.
