===BODY===
Poet, teacher, translator, and writer of children's literature, Cuban. Her work achieved great circulation in her native country and abroad.
She was born in La Habana, Cuba. She graduated with a degree in Spanish and Literature from the Instituto Superior Pedagógico Enrique José Varona, and was a professor of History and Literature in secondary education. She later worked at the Casa de las Américas and was an editor of the Santiago magazine and Head of Off-Campus Programs at the Universidad de Oriente. She was Head of the Film Section of the University Extension Department and editor at Editorial Gente Nueva.
She was an adjunct professor of Children's Literature at the universities of Las Villas and Pinar del Río, and a translator of children's literature from English, Russian, German, Hungarian, and Czech. Her work, in turn, has been translated into English, Russian, French, Italian, Portuguese, German, Serbo-Croatian, Arabic, among others.
