Graduate in Orchestral Conducting in 1993 from the Instituto Superior de Arte, under the guidance of maestro Guido López-Gavilán. He is one of the most internationally recognized Cuban orchestra conductors
Graduate in violin from the Escuela Nacional de Artes with professors Inna Kuztnezova and Billy Mokatzian.
His career as a conductor began in 1991 with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Matanzas, where he developed excellent work alongside maestro Helena Herrera.
In December 2002 he was appointed by maestro Leo Brouwer as Associate Director of the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Cuba, during this period he worked as orchestra conductor of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba, invited by Prima Ballerina Alicia Alonso, with which he was in charge of the musical direction of the main titles, among them The Nutcracker, Coppelia, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Carmen, etc. He regularly conducts the Opera Nacional.
He has participated in important festivals such as the International Guitar Festival of La Habana, of Morelia, the "Eduardo Mata" Fall Festival, these last two in Mexico, the International Ballet Festival and the Ignacio Cervantes International Piano Competition and Festival of La Habana.
He has collaborated with prestigious soloists, in addition to performing in important concert halls, such as the Carlos Felice theater, the Máximo of Palermo, the Graz Opera theater, the Claudio Santoro theater of Brasilia, in addition to participating in important festivals such as the International Guitar Festival of La Habana, of Morelia and the Eduardo Mata fall festival, these last two in Mexico. He conducted the Cuban premiere of the complete five piano concertos by Heitor Villa Lobos, has recorded music for Cuban and Spanish films, in addition to collaborating with important Cuban popular music artists.
His musical integrity and expressiveness allow him to be invited to conduct concerts in Brazil, Spain, Italy, Austria, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, France, among others. He participated in the 1st Congress of Music Personalities held in Jerusalem, where he receives the distinction Millennium Pilgrim, granted by the mayor of that city. In 2007 he was presented with the Shield of the city of Sabaudia- Italy and named Honorary Guest Director. He is permanent guest director of the Guayaquil symphony orchestra. He has participated in tours with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional through Peru, Russia, Nicaragua, etc.
He has offered master classes in Orchestral Conducting in Colombia, Mexico and in Valencia-Spain, conducted the Florida Symphony Orchestra in 2012; and participated as a juror in important international competitions. He holds the Laureate Seal and the Distinction for National Culture of Cuba.
He is currently Principal Director of the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Cuba and the Orquesta de Cámara Nuestro Tiempo.
