Ele Valdés Oropesa

She completed her first musical studies at the "Amadeo Roldán" Conservatory of Music in 1962, specializing in piano, and choral singing with Manuel Ochoa and Carmen Collado.

In 1966 she moved to the National School of Art and studied in the specialty of Choral Direction and Singing.

In 1974 she began her career as a professional as a member of the Quartet "Tema 4".

In 1976 she joined the group SINTESIS as a singer and keyboardist.

She has participated in recordings and live performances with important musicians and groups such as the Experimental Sound Group of ICAIC, with Leo Brouwer, Daniel Viglietti, Chico Buarque de Hollanda, Michel Legrand.

She was invited as vocalist in the work "Black Mass" by Chucho Valdés, at its premiere in Cuba. She has also recorded her voice in record productions by: Emiliano Salvador, Paquito de Rivera, Sergio Vitier, Silvio Rodríguez, Amaury Pérez, Isaac Delgado, Adalberto Álvarez, Miguel Angá, X Alfonso.

In 2007 she performed, alternating with Omara Portuondo, the leading role in the dance-musical work "VIDA" by the renowned choreographer Lizt Alfonso, at the Alexandra Royal, theater in Toronto, Canada and in Cuba.

She has received the "Diploma for Artistic Merit" awarded by the Rectory of the Superior Institute of Art in recognition of her artistic trajectory.

Ele Valdés, also known for being the mother of the talented Cuban artists X and Eme Alfonso.
