Eduardo Ramos Montes

Composer, arranger, bass player and guitarist. Member and founder of the ICAIC Grupo de Experimentación sonora.

He was born in La Habana on October 20, 1946.

He studied at the Escuela de Superación Profesional Ignacio Cervantes, was a student of Juan Elósegui, Federico Smith, Silvio Vergara and later of Leo Brouwer in counterpoint, form and composition. He was a member of the Grupo de Experimentación Sonora of the ICAIC, with which he recorded several albums.

In 1967 he joined as bass player in the Sonorama 6 combo, which included Martín Rojas, Carlos Averhoff, Enrique Plá, Carlos del Puerto and José Luis Quintana (Changuito).

He has participated in festivals in the GDR and the Soviet Union, and in 1977 he toured Spain as director of the Grupo de Experimentación Sonora.

Subsequently he was musical director and bass player of Pablo Milanés's group as well as president of the Movimiento de la Nueva Trova.

Recording producer, notable for the Trípticos series by singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez, as well as more than one hundred phonograms for the Unicornio label, of Estudios Abdala, between 1998 and 2004.

Other moments in his career include performances alongside foreign musicians such as Catalan Joan Manuel Serrat, Brazilian Chico Buarque de Hollanda and Argentine Mercedes Sosa.

Currently he works at Estudios de grabación Abdala.

His arrangements are characterized by achieving the necessary balance and blend between the group and the lead singer.
