Eduardo Martín Pérez

He studied guitar with maestro Jesús Ortega and composition with maestros Ángel Vázquez Millares and Alfredo Dieznieto. He has taken advanced classical guitar courses with Isaac Nicola, Rey Guerra, Leo Brouwer, David Russel, Wolfgang Lendle, Costas Cotsiolis, Ichiro Suzuki, Antonio Lauro and Alirio Díaz.

In 1985 he graduated from the Instituto Superior de Arte de Cuba and won the position of soloist at the Centro Nacional de Concierto, which led him to perform numerous tours.


In 1987 he founded, together with Rey Guerra, Carlos Alberto Lloró and Walfrido Domínguez the guitar quartet Guitarra 4, with which he performed concert tours throughout Cuba, in addition to various radio and television programs and a recording for the Cuban label EGREM. He has won awards in guitar competitions, chamber music and composition.


He has written works for guitar, duos, trios, quartets, flute and guitar, flute and two guitars and guitar orchestra. He has composed music for theater and cinema. He has performed countless tours throughout Cuba, Latin America and Europe, where he has given recitals, seminars, workshops and master classes in Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.


He founded in 1990, together with Walfrido Domínguez the Duo Confluencia, with which he has recorded albums in Cuba, Uruguay, Argentina and Spain, and radio and television programs from Cuba, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico, USA, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Denmark and Japan. This Duo has received the highest praise from specialized critics in Europe and America.


In 1991 he became the first Latin American composer awarded at the International Guitar Competition of Radio France in Paris.


In 1995 he founded the Cuarteto Imaginario together with Francisco Gamallo and Ignacio López from Spain and Walfrido Domínguez from Cuba. With this ensemble they have performed several recitals and recordings in Spain, Argentina and Cuba, obtaining excellent reception from both audience and critics. In


1999 he was selected by American Composer's Orchestra of New York, as a delegate composer for the Festival Sonidos de las Américas.


2004, he founded in Spain together with flutist Jesús González, a duo dedicated to performing his works.


2007, the great guitarist Iliana Matos recorded for the GSP label of the United States, the first complete album of the series that she will dedicate to his work. The impact that this CD, "Angels in the street" has had on specialized critics has been notable in America, Europe and Asia. Placing his music at the highest levels of contemporary guitar literature.


2009, he founded in Spain together with clarinetist Bartolomé García-Plata a duo dedicated to performing his music.


His scores have been published by Les Cahiers de la Guitare, La Revue Francaise de Guitare, PRODUCCIONES ABDALA (Cuba) LES PRODUCTIONS D´OZ (Canada), TUSCANY PUBLICATIONS (U.S.A.), ARTE TRIPHARIA (Spain) and HENRY LEMOINE (France). This music currently integrates the official study programs for guitar instruction in Cuba, Costa Rica, Mexico, Spain, France, Bolivia, Austria and USA and is required repertoire for the International Guitar Competition of La Habana, as well as other competitions such as the National Guitar Competition of Dominican Republic and the International Guitar Competition d' Antony, France.


His works are part of programs by some of the most prestigious guitarists in the world. At this moment his music is played on all continents, reaching ever greater levels of dissemination. He has been a judge in multiple guitar competitions. He is a professor at the Instituto Superior de Arte de Cuba, a position he alternates with his concert tours. He currently holds the position of soloist of the Centro Nacional de Música de Concierto de Cuba.


Throughout his career he has recorded for radio and television in many countries in America, Europe and Asia.


He has been a judge in multiple international guitar competitions. He is a professor at the Instituto Superior de Arte de Cuba, a position he alternates with his concert tours.

All this music is integrated into guitar curricula at all three levels of instruction in Cuba and in many other countries. Furthermore, it is part of the required repertoire in important international guitar competitions.


His works are part of programs by the most prestigious guitarists. At this moment his music is played and recorded on all five continents, reaching ever greater levels of dissemination. Currently, he is one of the composer-guitarists alive with broad international projection.
