Outstanding Cuban Pedagogue
Eduardo Bautista Palacio Ortiz was born in Trinidad, province of Sancti Spíritus. He studied at the Escuela Normal para Maestros de Las Villas. He participated in the Literacy Campaign, was also a technical advisor to literacy educators, and collaborated in the development of programs. He worked in the Sierra Maestra as a Natural Sciences teacher.
He worked in the organization of the Education Union. He participated in professional technical conferences, in the organization of Saturday seminars, in the certification plans of Worker and Peasant Education and secondary courses.
As a delegate to the 1971 Education Congress, he presented a paper that was applied throughout the country. Provincial History Inspector Methodologist, he collaborated in the development of programs for Basic Secondary and Worker Peasant Faculty, textbooks and pamphlets with exercises. He fulfilled an internationalist mission in the Congo, creating a primer to teach literacy to soldiers of the Popular Army of the Congo that was translated into several languages. He is a member of the Association of Pedagogues of Cuba, of which he is part of its Provincial Board. He participated as a delegate and speaker in workshops and congresses.
He currently directs the Provincial History Section and the Research Project of Outstanding Educators of Cuba in the Twentieth Century. He has been the recipient of several recognitions and medals.
