Daisy Ballmajó

Daisy studied journalism at the Universidad de La Habana and began working at Canal Habana, while hosting the musical program A capella. She was also a presenter of the morning magazine Buenos Días and, for a short time, of the Noticiero Nacional of Cuban TV. She worked as a reporter and presenter for the CH-TV channel in La Habana.

After leaving for República Dominica, she worked with the late presenter and comedian Freddy Beras-Goico on the program El Gordo de la Semana. She was also part of the investigative journalism programs "La vida misma".

Upon her arrival in Miami, she worked for the América TeVe and Mega TV channels.

Since 2010, she has been a journalist and presenter of Noticiero Telemundo 51 Miami / WSCV, in its editions at 5, 6, and 11 p.m., Monday through Friday.

As part of the team at this local station that serves the Spanish-speaking community of south Florida, Ballmajó reports the latest and most important news for viewers in the Miami Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach areas.

At Telemundo 51, she works as a presenter and reporter. She has won 2 Emmy Awards: one in 2014 for her segment "Rostros de nuestra ciudad" and another in 2015 for the special newscast "Niños en la frontera".

In 2016, she received 2 Emmy Award nominations for two special series about the great Cuban singer and artist Celia Cruz.

Daisy also received the "Miami Life Awards" Prize in 2014 as best news presenter. Additionally, she was recognized by Revista Carteles for her segment "Mujer Hoy", dedicated to the work and achievements of women.

Daisy Ballmajó has carried out special coverage such as the visit of Pope Francis to Washington and New York, as well as the Proclamation of the King of Spain Felipe VI.

Along with Telemundo 51, Daisy collaborates with the Liga Contra el Cáncer, a nonprofit organization that helps the most needy people suffering from that terrible disease.

She is married to Bobby Salamanca Jr.
