Catherine Zuaznabar Mejías

Cuban dancer Catherine Zuaznabar, prima ballerina of Ballet Bejart of Lausanne and the National Ballet of Cuba.

From age 4, she learned to work with her body and to understand it. It has required much work, patience and perseverance, but also great discipline, rigor, willpower and punctuality.

Graduated from Cuba's National School of Ballet where she later joined the ranks of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC). During 5 years of professional career at this institution, she reached the rank of principal soloist, performing leading roles in the classical repertoire, including her full production of Swan Lake in 1997.

That same year, her desire to explore and open herself to new horizons led her to Switzerland, where for 18 years she worked as a soloist at Béjart Ballet Lausanne, performing great classics such as Bolero, Bhakti 3, Le teck, Seraitce la mort, among others.

After 23 years of professional career, Catherine decides to share her knowledge and inspire new generations of dancers.

Since 2015 Catherine is a certified POSTURAL STRETCHING (R) instructor.

1992 - 1997: National Ballet of Cuba - Promoted Soloist in 1994

DON QUIXOTE - SWAN LAKE - PAQUITA and many contemporary ballets.

Training:
1979 - 1984: School of Gymnastics in Havana.
1st prize in the 7/8 years category

1984 - 1989: Alejo Carpentier Primary School in Havana

July 1986: Participation in the 7th National Festival of Ballet Schools in Camagüey
Receipt of individual mention

1989 - 1992: National School of Ballet of Cuba, Training in classical dance and character dance, repertoire of the folk dance company, pas de deux.
1st place National School Encounters 1988
3rd place "Best Individual Performance" in Havana

1992: International Dance Competition in Virgine, Italy
Obtaining Bronze Medal

June 2014: French state diploma in classical dance instruction.
