Carlos Prats

Poet who resided in Matanzas, at the time when Dr. Plácido Martínez directed "El Estudiante", and in this magazine he published verses. Always restless, active, nervous, talkative. He was aggressive, formidable as a journalist. As a conversationalist, a delight and a marvel. Like no one else was he capable of coordinating with wit and speed so many ideas.

"His poetic work is careless; but there was in Prats a poet of brilliant imagination, whom life overwhelmed and defeated undeservedly.

He dies in Matanzas. After his death, the Civic Association of the city compiled and published a volume with his work, with a prologue by Medardo Vitier.
