Brook is an American-Cuban basketball player who since the 2008-09 season has been part of the Brooklyn Nets roster in the NBA. He measures 2.13 meters and plays in the center position.

He is the twin brother of Robin López, who was selected by Phoenix Suns in the same draft. Both are sons of a Cuban emigrant, Heriberto López, and American Deborah Ledford, who was an Olympic swimmer.

During his college years he played for two seasons alongside his brother with the Stanford University Cardinals.

In his first season he averaged 12.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks, which earned him a spot on the All-Freshman Team of the Pacific Ten Conference.

In his second season he led his team in points (19.3 per game) and rebounds (8.2), being third in the league in blocks (2.1).[1] In March 2008, both he and his brother announced their intention to enter the NBA Draft.

Overall in his college career he averaged 16.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.

In his professional career he was selected 10th overall in the first round of the 2008 NBA Draft by New Jersey Nets, the team he signed with for two seasons, with options for two more, for 1.7 and 1.8 million dollars respectively for the first two seasons.

In his first season in the league he competed in the Rookie Challenge and was included in the All-Rookie Team after averaging 13 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks, playing all 82 regular season games. He finished third in Rookie of the Year voting.
