Cuban scientist. She is a Specialist Physician of the Second Degree in Clinical Genetics and Director of the Center for Medical Genetics. She holds the Prize from the Academy of Sciences of Cuba (ACC) 2015-2016.
On September 21, 2017, she received the Sofía Kovalievskaia Prize 2015-2016 in its seventh edition, awarded by the Foundation bearing the name of the famous Russian scientist and feminist from the nineteenth century.
Beatriz is also a Specialist Physician in Clinical Genetics.

The prize was awarded for the research Medical Genetics in Cuba: its results and impact on the care of Maternal and Child Health in 35 years (1980-2014), by the group of authors Beatriz Marcheco Teruel, Araceli Lantigua Cruz, Iris Rojas Betancourt, Yudelkis Benítez Cordero from the National Center for Medical Genetics.
