He participated in three Summer Olympic Games between 2008 and 2016, obtaining a silver medal at the London 2012 edition in the –90 kg category. At the Pan American Games he won two medals in 2011 and 2015.
He won two medals at the World Judo Championship in 2011 and 2013, and five medals at the Pan American Judo Championship between 2011 and 2018.
Asley González became 2013 World Champion in Rio de Janeiro for Cuba in the 90kg category and world bronze in 2011.
González was a finalist at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He won silver at the Pan American Games in 2015, took silver in 2013 in Paris 5 silver medals in 2015.
Asley won the Havana Grand Prix in 2016 and silver at the Zagreb Grand Prix in 2018.
Asley González (CUB) was number 1 in the IJF World Ranking for senior adults under 90 kg in 2013 and 2014. He switched to Romania in 2021.
In 2021 he became a Romanian citizen and began participating in international competitions under the Romanian flag.
