Antonio Fernández de Castro Petronne

Died: January 12, 1942

Born in La Habana. Together with his colleague Eugenio Rayneri (1841-1922) he directs the works of the first Capitolio Nacional in 1914 which had been attempted during the administration of Mario García Menocal. The construction company was presided over by Antonio Fernández de Castro and was also composed of Eugenio and Virgilio Rayneri Piedra.

In 1921 he is appointed holder of the chair of Civil Engineering at the Universidad de la Habana. He won the chair of Civil Engineering by competitive examination, and was promoted to it by presidential decree.

He suffered imprisonment in La Cabaña for his separatist ideas.

He dies on January 12, 1942.
