Antonio Barreras

Died: January 27, 1973

Antonio Barreras was a writer, lawyer, and journalist; he was the creator of the Hernández Catá Prize, awarded annually starting in 1942.

In 1926 he graduated with a degree in Civil Law. He founded and directed the magazine Mundo Contemporáneo, and also contributed to various national publications.

His short story collection La Culpable was translated into French. He devoted himself mainly to the study of Cuban constitutional law.
