Born in Santiago territory in 1961, Angel Bonne began his musical studies at a very young age, developing proficiency in the clarinet. The artist confesses that genetically his father, Enrique Bonne, "has much to do with his musical taste"; he grew up watching him play the piano, and drums echoed in his house's patio, where musical gatherings took place with the presence of greats like Pacho Alonso and Omara Portuondo among others.
After graduating from the National School of Art, he worked as a saxophonist in groups such as: Grupos Galaxia, Santiago Feliú's group, Beatriz Márquez's group (where he also served as director), Grupo Granma (from Santiago de Cuba) and Orquesta Cubana de Música Moderna (from Santiago de Cuba). He also participated as a saxophonist on albums by renowned singers such as Amaury Pérez Vidal and Evelyn García Márquez. He also collaborated with other groups, among which Grupo Síntesis and Grupo Irakere under maestro Chucho Valdés stand out.
His interpretive quality and musical talent led him to become part of one of the most important orchestras in Cuban music: Juan Formell's Orchestra, Los Van Van, where in addition to playing the saxophone, he performed the functions of arranger and singer. His time with this musical group is regarded by Ángel Bonne himself as one of the most important moments of his artistic career.
At age 33, he decides to pursue a solo career without abandoning his role as an instrumentalist and his qualities as a composer, and is accompanied by Grupo LM Sobredosis. Since then he has starred in several recording productions: "Pa' decir lo que yo siento", "Circunstancias", "Esta es mi música", "Por favor escúchame" and "Bonne and Bonne Co.", and has participated in more than 40 albums recorded alongside recognized figures from Cuba.
His versatility allows him to venture into various musical genres, among which jazz, Nueva Trova and popular music stand out.
From Bonne's discography, songs like "Usted volverá a pasar", "El caldero", "Pura vestimenta" or "Ya no soy un pepillo" will always be remembered, which also demonstrate his gifts as a composer, performer and orchestra director.
