Graduate of the Instituto Superior de Arte de La Habana, Cuba. She was a cello student of maestros Roussi Dragnev and Anatoli Lukianenko and in chamber music, of Mtro. Radosvet Boyadjiev (Founding Director of the Trío José White).

Cellist of the Trío José White, for more than a decade she participated in European festivals, in Cuba and other Latin American countries.

As a soloist she has performed with the Orq. Sinfónica Nacional de Cuba, Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de México, Orq. de la Confederación Helvética (Switzerland), Orq. Sinfónica de Michoacán (Mexico), Orquesta Juvenil de Xalapa (Mexico), Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de El Salvador, among others.

She has performed in numerous festivals and concert halls such as: Festival de Música de Cámara de San Miguel de Allende (Mexico), Festival Internacional de Música Barroca (Guanajuato, Mexico), Festival Cervantino (Guanajuato, Mexico), Sala Bellas Artes (Mexico), Teatro Auditórium (Mar del Plata, Argentina), Sala Rinhghaus (Berna, Switzerland), Mahogany Hall (Berna, Switzerland), Teatro Juárez (Guanajuato, Mexico) and Festivales de Música Contemporánea de La Habana (Cuba).

She has taught master classes at various conservatories and universities: Conservatorio de San Juan (Puerto Rico), Universidades de Guanajuato and Michoacán (Mexico) and the ISA (Cuba), among others. In 2008 she conducted a tour of the Escuelas de Música de Cuba, offering master classes to all cello students in the country.

Amparo del Riego lived in Mexico for almost ten years with her husband, guitarist Victor Pellegrini, teaching at the Conservatorio de las Rosas de Morelia. For some years now the two have resided in La Habana, Cuba, where they regularly offer concerts.
