Alexis Copello Sánchez

He is a Cuban triple jump athlete. He participated in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games with a mark of 17.09 m in the qualifying phase.

During the 2009 World Athletics Championship he won the bronze medal with 17.36 m. His personal best is 17.65 m achieved in Havana on May 30, 2009 during the Barrientos Memorial.

In 2010 he won the gold medal at the XIV Ibero-American Athletics Championship held in the Spanish city of San Fernando de Cádiz. The indomitable athlete not only secured the title but also set a new record in the annals of this competition by recording 17 meters and 28 centimeters. He also won the silver medal in triple jump at the Grand Prix of Athletics, which took place in the Brazilian city of Caixa, jumping up to 17.31 meters. For the tall Santiago-born jumper, the Rio competition was his second appearance of the current season, as he recently won with 17.47 meters at the first stop of the Diamond League in Doha, Qatar.

In 2011 he wins the gold medal at an indoor athletics meet in Mondeville, France, with a jump of 17.02 m.
