El Tornado de La Habana
Adrián Morejón is a Cuban left-handed relief pitcher for the San Diego Padres. Born in Havana on February 27, 1999, he signed with the Padres as an international free agent in 2016 and made his MLB debut on July 21, 2019, against the Chicago Cubs after ranking among the sport's top pitching prospects.
Morejón emerged as one of baseball's most dominant relievers during the 2026 season, going 9-3 with a 2.83 ERA, 3 saves and 107 strikeouts over 86 innings across 76 appearances, according to Baseball-Reference. His second half was especially overpowering: from July 21 onward his ERA sat at 0.45, the lowest mark in MLB among pitchers with at least 20 innings in that span, per OnCubaNews. He also set a single-season record for left-handed pitchers by throwing 181 pitches clocked at 100 mph or faster.
Morejón and closer Mason Miller anchor a Padres bullpen that clinched a 2026 postseason berth on September 24 with a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, positioning San Diego for a deep October run.
