The Cuban Luis Robert is seriously aspiring to the American League Rookie of the Year Award in 2020.
He already obtained the award for the month of August and in September he has already begun to stand out.
On Thursday night he hit a home run with two runners on base to put the score at 11 to 4. Robert connected on a slider from Royals reliever Jake Newberry and the ball left the bat at 113 MPH! The ball traveled a distance of 458 feet. This is the longest hit by a Cuban in 2020! It surpassed the 452 ft. one by José Abreu on August 26 against the Cubs.
The Panther now has 11 home runs and is ranked 9th in all of MLB (6th in the American League). Among rookies he is taking an advantage over his main contender for the award, Kyle Lewis. The Mariners outfielder has hit 8. In RBIs the difference is beginning to be even larger. The Cuban reached 27 while the American has 21.
