In Cuba, the mark of female bartenders officially began in 1982, when Cienfuegueran Gloria María Pomares Haros began to practice the profession and was recognized as the first bartender on the Caribbean island. In recognition, in 2017 a National Cocktail-Making Competition was held with her name.

As time went on, the women of the island made their way in the world of cocktail preparation, previously an almost exclusive domain for men. Thus, in 2013, Yindra Susana Vázquez La O from Santiago was the first woman in the history of Cuban bartending to represent the country in a world bartending championship.

Shortly after, in 2015, Yuleidys Sánchez Duardo, bartender at the capital's snack-bar and restaurant ¡Waoo! won first place in the VIII Fabio Delgado Cocktail-Making Competition in Memoriam in Havana.

That same year Sánchez Duardo represented Cuba at the IV edition of the Beefeater Global Bartender Competition- drinks with gin-, which was held in London, capital of the United Kingdom.
