In order to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the birth of "My father was a gentleman, an exemplary man from head to toe, as a father, musician and revolutionary. Following his work is a source of pride for me, a commitment, because we are talking about an artist deeply loved by the people," Pablo Diez Córdova, son and director of the orchestra that bears the name of Barbarito Diez Junco, told Granma, known as The Golden Voice of Danzón, who will turn 110 years old next December 4th.

Diez Córdova explained that to commemorate his father's birthday, the orchestra will begin a year-long celebration campaign, starting with the XV edition of the Barbarito Diez Festival of Popular Music, in Manatí and Las Tunas, which will take place from November 30 to December 4, in different venues in these territories.

On the very day of Barbarito's birth, a tribute gala will be held in his honor in Manatí, and on November 30, in Las Tunas Park, there will be a dance event with the local danzón orchestra Cubaclamé, together with the orchestra that he directs. The traditional theoretical event that structures the festival will also take place. "Of one thing my father can be certain: as long as I exist, his orchestra will exist, the one he loved so much and with which he promoted danzón and bolero.
