Italian artist seduced by the art of Irene Rodríguez

June 18, 2019

To the portraits with which Italian photographer Alfredo Cannatello has documented the dance work of Irene Rodríguez, he now adds an audiovisual that records her interpretation of Solera, one of the most successful choreographies in her repertoire.

The material—presented in premiere at the Iberostar Gran Packard hotel—shows the artist while dancing an intense solo and the camera gradually moves into details such as the frenzy of the heel tapping, the vehemence of the arm movements, the physical effort that flamenco demands.

Cannatello arrived in Cuba in 2002 and since then has maintained close relationships with various dance companies, expressed in diverse exhibitions.

His audiovisual Solera will promote Irene Rodríguez's art in the world, and she together with her company will perform this month at the Jacob's Pillow Dance festival in Massachusetts, the most important of its kind in the United States.
