Cuban cyclist Arlenis Sierra will stand out this Wednesday as a reference for the best teams in road cycling, the Movistar Team, in the classic Belgian race Flecha de Brabante, just before the mythical Ardennes campaign.

Movistar Team, on its official website, announced alongside Sierra the Colombian Paula Patiño, the Serbian Jelena Erić, the Spanish Sara Martín, the Norwegian Katrine Aalerud and the Australian Sarah Gigante.

Meanwhile, the event portal registers 24 multinational teams, with a constellation of world stars, for the 139-kilometer (km) race, professional category 1 of the International Cycling Union. As is customary in competitions in Belgium, the elevations and cobblestone sections will be the main challenges.

Much of the race will be in three and a half laps around a circuit around Overijse, a route with the climbs of Hagaard (300 meters of ascending terrain), Hertstraat (700 meters and cobblestone), Moskesstraat (500 meters also with pavé), Holstheide (one km) and the S-shaped climb of one thousand 300 meters to the finish line.

Last year Sierra finished in 15th place in the Flecha de Brabante, ending at the head of the main peloton, 57 seconds behind those who topped the podium.

This season, the first for the 29-year-old from Manzanillo with the Spanish club, has begun with intensity and significant performances by the women's team, repeatedly praised by the management of the blue team, an icon of this sport also in the men's category.

The Cuban and the best road cyclist in the world, the Dutch Annemiek van Vleuten, have been the most outstanding of Movistar in 2022, with brilliant performances in Flanders, Belgium.
