Cuban cyclist Arlenis Sierra finished in 24th place in the general classification of the Giro d'Italia this Tuesday, following the fourth stage of the prestigious route.
In a titanic challenge of abrupt climbs and dangerous descents, over a stretch of 120.8 kilometers (km) in Cesena, the Cuban crossed the finish line in 26th place, 11:07 minutes behind the winner, and sits 24th in the overall standings.
The official website of the blue team registers that Dutch cyclist Annemiek van Vleuten dominated with 3:13:13 hours a course that included three major mountain prizes.
Van Vleuten, Olympic and world champion and perpetual leader of the world rankings, reached the lead in the general classification, with a wide advantage.
More than 100 cyclists from the most renowned multinational teams will return to the road tomorrow facing 126.8 km from Carpi to Reggio Emilia, in a Giro that will cover 1,004 kilometers in 10 stages.
