Arlenis Sierra took a break from her professional commitments to travel to El Salvador and contribute her efforts to Cuba during the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games.

She took it so seriously that this Wednesday she won the time trial held in the La Paz department, exactly in the Turicentro Ichanmichen area, about 30 kilometers from this capital.

The Cuban stopped the clocks at 27:10.16 minutes after covering the 21 kilometers and 156 meters of the race, well ahead of Colombian Diana Peñuela (28:14.77) and Bermuda's representative, Caitlin Conyers (28:35.24).

With this result, the cyclist from Manzanillo held the crown of the event in her hands, as she also won in the Barranquilla 2018 edition, five years ago.

A total of 13 cyclists participated, but only one Cuban, the winner and undoubtedly the standout figure at this regional event.

Arlenis is set to start in the road race, her favorite, scheduled for July 7 on a circuit within this capital city. It will be a total of 11 laps and approximately 42 kilometers in distance. She will be accompanied by Claudia Baró, Jeydy Pradera, and Daymelín Pérez.

This Wednesday, in the individual men's time trial, Pedro Portuondo finished ninth with a time of 56:01.68 minutes. The Colombian Miguel Ángel López dominated the race with a time of 49:07.94.
