At the XV International Film Festival of Gibara (FIC 2019), Cuban actress Daisy Granados, her compatriot director Fernando Pérez, and Puerto Rican actor Benicio del Toro will be awarded the Lucía de Honor Prize.
This is the third occasion on which this recognition for lifetime achievement is being presented, whose name is inspired by the film Lucía, directed by Humberto Solás in 1968 and starring Raquel Revuelta, Eslinda Núñez, and Adela Legrá.
Other cinema personalities who have also received the Lucía de Honor Prize are the aforementioned Núñez and Legrá, filmmaker Enrique Pineda-Barnet, and actors Salvador Wood and Mirta Ibarra.
The International Film Festival of Gibara, heir to the Festival of Poor Cinema, will take place from July 7 to 13, and will be directed by actor and director Jorge Perugorría.
