The recognized Cuban musician David Blanco, one of the most followed artists on social networks in these times of pandemic, announced for tomorrow, Saturday, July 11, his first post-COVID recital, scheduled for nine o'clock at night at the Cine Teatro El Lajero, in the province of Mayabeque.
First concert, this is already starting Cuba. Let's go with intelligence, taking an approach little by little as if we were getting to know each other again. It will be like a "nouvel amour" teatro de San José at half capacity, before we touch each other we're going to brush up against each other, at a distance many things can be said and done, published the singer and composer on his Facebook page.
The staggered opening that has been achieved after months of intense struggle, since the necessary confinement, against the new coronavirus, brings good news such as this first presentation of David Blanco in front of his followers in San José de Las Lajas, municipality of Mayabeque that is already in the second phase of recovery.
Although the multifaceted artist was very active on the Internet, being the first to launch himself from Cuba into the enterprise of online concerts that later became an institutional project supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Cuban institutes of Music and Radio and Television, his fans will appreciate this partial return to normalcy.
From the living room of his house or from an improvised stage in a garage, very much in keeping with the carefree style that characterizes his artistic projection, which is nonetheless of impressive quality, he was able to be enjoyed in his multiple appearances on Facebook and Instagram Live and in television presentations by Canal Clave thanks to the initiative Estamos Contigo.
In recent days he was part of the lineup of the virtual meeting of the Ciudad del Mar Alternative Music Festival and has participated in the production of collaborative videos such as a new version of the iconic theme We will rock you, by the emblematic band Queen, together with his brother Ernesto Blanco, Pedrito Calvo, Kamankola, Adrián Berazaín and Kill the party.
With discipline and following the necessary measures to not backtrack in the step toward the new normal, news of concerts, exhibitions and literary, theatrical and dance presentations will soon be common, which will provide confidence that progress is being made little by little toward the necessary recovery of culture in its physical spaces, without completely abandoning the ground gained on social networks in times of coronavirus.
