Cuban diva Annia Linares celebrates 49 years of artistic career and to celebrate it will give a concert today, November 30th at the Teatro Manuel Artime.
Linares revealed, in an interview with Nuevo Herald that, at her almost half century of artistic life, she still has a debt to settle: "to return to my Cuba and sing to my people so I can die at peace".
Regarding the event, which will be directed by her son, drummer Dyron Orta, as he has been doing for some years now, she said "there are still some details to adjust in the program. But what I am sure of is that I will sing Heridas, La bailarina española, Como cualquiera and A mi manera".
"These are songs that have accompanied me throughout the years and I can no longer separate myself from them. And since my audience always requests them from me, I have no problem pleasing them".
Eduardo Antonio, Lourdes Libertad, Rey Ríos, Yara Rey and Noelia Zayón, are the vocalists who will accompany her on stage. Along with the dance company of Gigi Academy, under the production of María Medina.
"They are first-rate artists. Since they have proven themselves with me in my presentations at Alfaro's on Calle Ocho (the nightclub), I am sure they will do a good job", the artist asserted.
"As usually happens, there are times when our points of view don't coincide. But I must recognize that in the end we reach an agreement. Dayron is very confident in himself and has a lot of skill", she highlighted.
Annia Linares made her debut as a singer on October 20, 1970 at the Teatro ICR space, with the work Shakuntala, and in the variety program Juntos por los 10 millones, where she sang the song Ilusión.
For which Linares recalled "it was very nice, I was very nervous. I remember that my mother was crying and my father brought me a rose for having fulfilled my great dream".
The singer noted that in almost five decades of career she has lived "great moments", of which she highlights when she received "the ovation of thousands of people at the Ciudad Deportiva de La Habana", being barely a debutante, and another during a presentation at the now-defunct Mambo Club, in Miami, where Olga Guillot took the stage by surprise and performed a duet with her on Me contaron de ti.
