Legend of the Two Lovers, a Cuban 3D animation film based on songs by troubadour Silvio Rodríguez, is currently in production under the direction of the multi-award-winning filmmaker Ernesto Padrón, who also directed Meñique.

This work, scheduled to premiere in 2024 by RTV Comercial, Estudios Ojalá and the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, proposes a journey through 13 melodies by the singer-songwriter in 80 minutes, reported the Prensa Latina News Agency.

According to the film's teaser, the story revolves around two lovers who inhabit a fantastic universe where floating islands exist, but 11 of them, forming an archipelago, are songs by Silvio Rodríguez.

After fleeing separately due to war, both distance themselves and take refuge at the extremes of this archipelago of songs.

Each island is a song by Silvio, and the scenic designs are conceived based on the work of Flora Fong, Eduardo Roca (Choco), Nelson Domínguez, José Fúster, Roberto Fabelo, Zaida del Río and Ernesto Rancaño are among them.

The director of the feature film explained that the work seeks to interweave narratives that recreate the values and images of the music and poetry of each song.

There are 13 songs, some of the most famous and others from recent albums, where the premise of the story is that love can do everything, because it is one of the most powerful forces of the human condition, he emphasized.

Padrón described directing this work as a gigantic challenge and an honor.
