Cuban actress and director of children's programs Ana Nora Calaza was awarded the 2024 National Television Award, thanks to a notable and extensive career in that medium, according to a press release issued today.
On the proposal of a jury presided over by director and program director José Ramón Artigas, who also holds this prestigious award, the Institute of Information and Social Communication recognizes in this way a figure who touches the souls of children and adults alike, of extraordinary talent.
The also choral singer, composer, music arranger, and musical advisor began her artistic work in 1957, and since then has worked primarily in television programs aimed at children and young people.
She performed leading roles in Aunt Tata Tells Stories, Friend and His Little Friends; Saturday 37; The Adventures of Old Jotavich; Toqui, The Wizard of Cachumbambé; Musical Rainbow, Let's Play, and Little Faces.
Currently she works as a dubbing director at the Television Film Studios, and is also involved in the project for films for the blind and visually impaired.
She is a member of the National Commission for Community Work of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac).
She has displayed her art in various venues such as the Havana community of La Timba, where the children's audience appreciates her performances filled with emotions and joy.
This distinguished performer, with 67 years of artistic life, places her country's culture in a position of merit, rich and talented like its representatives.
Ana Nora Calaza will receive the prestigious award as part of the celebrations for the 74th anniversary of Cuban Television's founding, on October 24 next.
The National Television Award was established in 2002 to honor workers linked to the artistic sector and is announced on each anniversary of that significant medium in Cuba.
