Penélope Cruz and Ana de Armas had never worked together until the arrival of Wasp Network, a Franco-Hispanic-Brazilian-Belgian co-production directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Olivier Assayas (Carlos, Personal Shopper).

The film is set in Havana at the beginning of the 90s, and the protagonist, René González (Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramírez) is a Cuban pilot who leaves behind his wife (Cruz) and children and tries a new life in Miami, where he will become part of a spy network that attempts to commit terrorist acts against Fidel Castro's communist regime in Cuba.

The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year, where it received mixed reviews, and just a few weeks ago Netflix acquired the distribution rights to release it exclusively on platforms on June 19, 2020.

In the main cast, apart from Cruz, Armas and Ramírez, the presence of Brazilian Wagner Moura, Pablo Escobar in Narcos, stands out; Mexican Gael García Bernal and Argentine Leonardo Sbaraglia.

An international cast with Latin roots (although among the protagonists Ana de Armas is the only one with Cuban ancestry) that promises to delight film enthusiasts.

If we take the official trailer as an example, the pace will be fast-paced, action is promised and suspense will be provided by the complex plots and subplots of espionage.
