Cuban actress Ana de Armas was one of the major protagonists of the final of the Australian Open Tournament -the first Grand Slam of the year-, by participating in the presentation of the tournament's trophy, prior to the match held in the city of Melbourne.
The Oscar nominee for her interpretation of Marilyn Monroe in the film Blonde, was accompanied for the occasion by former tennis player Jim Courier, according to a report from the Spanish newspaper El País.
Both transported the trophy to the main court of Melbourne Park in a custom-designed case, a creation of the luxury goods brand Louis Vuitton, prior to the match in which Italian Jannik Sinner defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev, after an impressive comeback.
The trophy of the Australian tournament is originally called the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup, in honor of Australian tennis player from the early twentieth century Norman Everard Brookes, the publication details.
De Arma is in Australia to finish filming the movie Eden, which is set to premiere in the coming months.
In this film she shares the screen with Jude Law, Vanessa Kirby, Sydney Sweeney and Daniel Brühl. Its director is Ron Howard, who was a producer of successful films such as A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13 and The Da Vinci Code.
The film tells the story of a group of people who break away from society and travel to the Galapagos Islands to establish a new community.
Followers of the renowned actress are also waiting for this year's release of Ballerina, a spin-off of the John Wick movies starring acclaimed Keanu Reeves, in which Arma will play an assassin ballerina.
The Case
The Louis Vuitton Trophy Trunk, debuted in the recent edition of the tournament, is a custom-made suitcase crafted in the workshops that the firm has in Asnières, on the outskirts of Paris, where all custom orders are made.
Also in this edition, another was debuted for the trophy of the women's tournament of the Australian Grand Slam, which had been won the day before by Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.
The French house is responsible for designing and crafting the cases in which several of the most prestigious sports trophies are transported; such as those of the Davis Cup in tennis, the FIFA World Cup in football, the America's Cup in sailing, the Rugby World Cup and the Monaco Grand Prix of Formula 1, the media reports.
