Amaury will offer the free concert No al Bloqueo, at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex, in Mexico, next Saturday the 23rd. The last time he was in that country was in 2019, when he performed a recital in Mérida, the artist recalled.
At a press conference, he highlighted his return to the country and expressed that in his recital he will include songs from his well-known repertoire and other less successful songs that over the last two years he has compiled in six productions, in addition to premiering the song La fonda de los Felipes, "an anti-corruption and anti-drug trafficking song, in which I also mention the states of Sonora, Guerrero and Acapulco".
Regarding his and his wife's covid infection, without losing his good sense of humor, he said that unlike Mexican artists such as Ignacio López Tarso, who wish to do so, he does not want to die on stage.
"I would like to die discreetly in my bed, with my wife holding my hand and telling me 'goodbye', or 'see you soon', because I am religious, I am Catholic, I want last rites and my wife's hands close to me and to tell her too see you soon! Now with social media, they will exhibit me 'there's Amaury Pérez's corpse on stage'. No, no, I want to go viral worldwide like that, better that it be with my songs", he joked.
After asserting that "concerts are not made by artists, a concert is made between the artist and the public as they respond", he emphasized that he called this recital at the helipad of the Los Pinos Cultural Center No al bloqueo, because "I want to emphasize as a Cuban, that I am deeply grateful to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his government team for the stance they have taken with respect to Cuba and support for the demand of no to the blockade, we ask that they let us alone, alone to walk, to be independent and that they allow us to be the country we have dreamed of, but we have always had the boot on our neck, it's terrible!".
Homero Fernández Pedroza, director of the Los Pinos Cultural Complex, Gabino Palomares, director of Artistic Programming and Waldo Leyva, Cultural Attaché of the Cuban Embassy in Mexico, chaired the conference.
"Amaury Pérez's concert is part of the anniversary of the assault on the Moncada Barracks in Cuba, when the authentic Cuban revolution led by Fidel Castro took place, on July 26, 1953", said Waldo Leyva.
