The Japanese press reported that the slugger from Granma will be released.

The Cuban was signed in the middle of the season, but later suffered an injury and was unable to play anymore.

His performance was very limited, ending with an average of .071 with no RBIs or home runs in 20 games. His worst year in Japan, after almost a decade with several stellar seasons and titles with the Fukuoka club.

After a good performance in the World Baseball Classic it seemed he would make up for what happened in 2022 in the Japanese league, but unfortunately he was even more subdued.

If he doesn't continue in Japan, the most notable option to keep playing professional baseball would be Mexico, although we'll have to see the interest from the clubs there.
