From October 12 to 30, the 50th edition of the International Cervantino Festival takes place in Guanajuato, Mexico.

Representing Cuba, the artists Alejandro Falcón, Rodrigo Sosa and Degnis Boffil presented themselves on October 22 with the musical proposal Raíces, which includes songs from their albums and a variety of genres such as danzón, rock, pop, rumba and typical folk rhythms from Latin American countries such as Brazil, Peru, Argentina and Mexico itself.

The Cuban-Argentine jazz trio included in Raíces songs from their albums "La Quenística" (by Rodrigo), and "Mi monte espiritual" (by Alejandro). An interesting fusion occurred, the artists commented, as classical pieces by Argentine Piazzola, Mexican Consuelo Vázquez, and Cuban Abelardo Valdés were also performed with innovative arrangements, but without losing their authenticity and with a special touch.

Falcón, who was already at a Cervantino in 2005, has been working alongside Rodrigo for ten years. Both have achieved a close musical relationship in which the quena and the piano blend together, and they have performed their pieces many times, especially the ones Rodrigo creates, achieving a very interesting mixture of his folk instrument with contemporary arrangements that bring these works to new generations.
