The story of his beginnings fits the pattern of those many accounts of virtuoso and prodigious pianists from a very early age, but the path he has traveled and the inventiveness with which he has known how to shape each of his influences when he appropriates them is what makes him an essential figure in today's musical landscape.

Surprising with his rhythmic games, and seeking inspiration in uncommon places or occasions characterize the music that is his, with which he has left a deep mark as an ambassador of Cuba, and as a curious Cuban who gives back to the island with the reinterpretation of the foreign that he hears, fascinates him and makes his own.
