Juantorena was discharged from the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK) in Havana, where he was hospitalized for several days for dengue and bronchopneumonia to which were added the aftereffects of COVID-19.
The two-time Olympic champion and Cuban sports legend Alberto Juantorena is recovering at home after spending several days hospitalized for dengue and bronchopneumonia, reported a sports publication from the Island this Friday.
"Already home Alberto Juantorena! This is, without a doubt, a special victory. You run with your heart, you run for glory but nothing is as meaningful as when you run for your life and you win. Congratulations, we all continue sending good vibes," reported the magazine Deporcuba on its Facebook profile.
The former athlete is the only Cuban athlete to win two Olympic gold medals, in the 400 and 800 meters in the 1976 Montreal Games.
