Cuban musician Alain Pérez received the Golden Latin Award for Best Producer and Composer at the VII edition of the Latin Awards, which took place at the emblematic Teatro Isabel la Católica in Granada on the night of October 8th.

"Thank you for making me part of this beautiful moment. Thank you for the recognition and for reminding Cuban musicians how much they have contributed here in Spain and in the world," the artist expressed through his social networks.

A native of Trinidad, the performer and composer calls himself a "true guajiro," an identity that has allowed him to incorporate traditional Cuban sounds into his repertoire, "a whirlwind of emotions, subtleties, sensations that create a unique seal of honesty, tradition and contemporaneity on stage," according to the official Premios Platino website.

The also arranger and musical director began his connection with the Iberian nation through his work as bassist for maestro Paco de Lucía, with a professional career that includes his work as a multi-instrumentalist with Irakere directed by Chucho Valdés at an early age, as well as director of Issac Delgado's orchestra and music producer for Celia Cruz and Estrella Morente, among many others.

Pérez works as musical producer for Barcelona singer Miguel Poveda, with "whom he opens a new path in the production of his latest work, Diverso awards an artist who brings Cuban music to the world through his eyes," notes the awards website.

During the awards ceremony, presented by the singer, actress and television presenter born on the Island Lucrecia, Cuban artists such as Yotuel and Pancho Céspedes also received recognition, the latter recipient of the Latino de Honor.

Last year, Alain won a Latin Grammy for the album Cha cha chá: homenaje a lo tradicional, by Orquesta Aragón together with Issac Delgado, in the category of Best Traditional Tropical Album.
