The popular Cuban musician Alain Pérez presented in Havana his most recent album, "El cuento de la buena pipa", from the Egrem record label.

The album, his sixth solo work and the second produced by an island label, proposes in its 12 tracks a journey through different strands of popular Cuban music.

Described as an 'imaginary musical journey' by musician Adalberto Álvarez in the album's liner notes, the album showcases with contemporary sound and solid arrangements genres such as son, rumba, bolero, cha cha chá, and guaracha.

The album, according to Pérez, occupies from its conception an important place in his work, marks a moment of maturity in the group, it is a very Cuban album, he assured, in which he combines what he learned during his time with Cuban orchestras such as Irakere, and the group of Spanish star Paco de Lucía.

The authorship of the album's songs is shared between the musician himself, his father Gradelio, and composer Juan Antonio Gil, a collaboration that resulted in titles such as "Tu nombre en un bolero", "Sabor de mi rumba", "Sin luz y sin agua", and the one that gives its name to the album.

For the recording of the material, the also producer and instrumentalist convened first-rate musicians such as trumpeter Alexander Abreu, pianist Rolando Luna, the Camerata Romeu, directed by maestro Zenaida Romeu and American percussionist Marc Quiñonez, to name just a few.

The album follows ADN, a material that was nominated for the Latin Grammy Award in the 2017 edition and consolidated the path traced by the artist as a defender of popular danceable music, a genre in which he presented his credentials with his previous release "Hablando con Juana".

The album, recorded in Egrem's Studio 18 and mastered at Phaseland Studios, Miami, will be available on digital platforms on February 28 and will have its presentation concert on April 18 at the Karl Marx theater.
