Cuban guitarist Ahmed Dickinson performed a concert at the emblematic National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
Dickinson is a prominent concert guitarist, producer and Cuban professor, who is performing for the first time on Ukrainian stages and offered his particular and masterful way of approaching the instrument.
The concert titled 'From Yesterday to Penny Lane' included a program dedicated to the music of the distinguished Cuban composer Ñico Rojas.
The Kiev Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Artist of Honor Ukraine, Igor Palkin, and the Cuban concert guitarist, shared the performance of music by Leo Brower, Walfrido Domínguez and Ñico Rojas.
Dickinson, a graduate of the Superior Institute of Art, began his musical training after graduating from the Guillermo Tomás and Amadeo Roldán Conservatories.
His training was under the guidance of professors Fernando López Bello, Roberto Kessell, Jesús Ortega and Alejandro González.
Subsequently, the young instrumentalist expanded his training at the English academies Royal College of Music and Guildhall School, of Music and Drama, where he obtained several awards in important international competitions.
For some years now he has directed Cubafilin Records, a record label with which he has produced several albums.
His performances have taken him to important festivals and prestigious concert halls in Europe, among which stand out the Minsk Philharmonic Hall, the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Opera House in London.
The Consul Affairs Officer of Cuba in Ukraine, Michel Alquizar Morales, expressed at the opening of the concert that this presentation ratifies the prestige of the Cuban guitar school and that it strengthens the bonds of friendship between Cuba and Ukraine through the arts.
