Adalberto Álvarez, The Knight of Son, Will Return in His Music to Cuban Television

From Brother to Brother is the title of the most recent audiovisual production that, under the Bis Music record label, will arrive on the night of this Sunday, November 21st to Cubavisión Channel on Cuban television, in honor of the maestro Adalberto Álvarez (1948-2021).

As a gift to he who was music from his birth, on November 22nd, the day of Santa Cecilia (Patroness of Musicians), his brother Enrique materialized the idea of recording material that would capture part of his creations and in which several members of that legendary musical family and other renowned Cuban performers would be involved, accompanied by the Charanga Latina.

Thus, From Brother to Brother came about, material directed by filmmaker José Manuel García and which will result in a CD of the same title.

"...the idea arose motivated by the loss of my brother. When I felt capable of taking on the responsibility of dedicating some songs to him and in complicity with my son Lazarito, we reviewed all of his work (more than 200 songs) and selected the ten that appear in the material...", commented Enrique Álvarez.

Seeking similarity with the original sound of each of these songs, the performers who participate in the project were chosen, among whom are: Lázaro Maya (Lachy Fortuna), Dayán Carrera, Dayron Pablo Nieto (Diamante), Maykel Dinza, Norieley Valladares (El Noro) and flutist José Luís Cortés.

The members of one of Cuba's most melodious families could not be absent from this celebration of remembrance, which is why viewers will enjoy the performances of his brothers Enrique (violin) and Luís Orlando (paila), and his children Dorgeris (vocals and piano), Jennifer and Alondra (vocals) and young Brayan (piano), the latter current director of the orchestra Adalberto Álvarez y su Son.

When on Sunday night the chords of popular songs signed by the Knight... are heard, the desire to dance cannot be contained, even with tears in the eyes for his physical absence.

Impossible not to move your body to the rhythm of If You're Not Going to Cook, A Mulata in Havana, Crazy in Love, María's Return, The Evil of Hypocrisy or The Toca Toca Dance; some of the songs that will reach the screens of homes also from the Clave Channel signal.

It is worth noting that in this program you will hear an excellent arrangement of the first song composed by the charismatic Adalberto, about 55 years ago: My Son, this being a special reverence to he who put all his effort and strength in the defense of the genre, achieving that May 8th be dedicated to it for the first time, in honor of two other greats of the Cuban musical staff: Miguelito Cuní and Miguel Matamoros.

Surely those of us who admired the talented Camagüeyan will be grateful for the television offering that will make us remember his smile and the kind treatment that always accompanied him, the care in his compositions and his characteristic elegance.
