Cuban actress Mariela Garriga acts with Tom Cruise in 'Mission: Impossible'

Cuban actress Mariela Garriga will be one of the faces in the seventh and eighth installments of the Mission: Impossible saga alongside Tom Cruise, which is currently in the filming process in London.

The director and screenwriter of the films himself, Christopher McQuarrie, responsible for three other previous films, announced the news through his Twitter account, surprising the entertainment world and also Mariela herself.

In an interview for the American magazine Vanity Fair, the young woman shared details about her participation in Dead Reckoning I and II, the titles of the films.

"I am very happy to work with Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie, who in addition to being two great professionals have incredible human qualities," the actress confessed.

Mariela Garriga said that before the announcement of her character, she was at ease because nobody knew about this performance and she could concentrate on her work, but everything changed when McQuarrie broke the news: "Since it became public, my friends and colleagues bombard me with congratulations."

Dead Reckoning has been in filming for almost three years, as it was interrupted on several occasions by the pandemic. Its premiere is scheduled for July 2023 and, without a doubt, it will be the breakthrough of another Cuban in Hollywood.

But, who is Mariela Garriga and how did she get to this point in her career?

Mariela was born in Havana in 1989, but at age 19 she moved to Milan.

She never thought of being an actress, in fact her great dream was to become an archaeologist, but someone saw certain aptitudes in her and suggested that she become a model and dancer in the ballet of Cuban Television, although she confesses that at that moment she didn't even know how to dance.

Six months later, the girl was signed by a modeling agency and set off to Italy, but her aspirations were still to study Archaeology and later venture into the world of theater. However, without meaning to, she found herself making films.

Currently, Mariela lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Italian entrepreneur Stefano Mongardi, and her dog Habana. With the latter, she indulges her passion for animals, as as a child she rescued up to 30 dogs from the street that she later gave away, although she still firmly affirms that one day she will have a shelter.

Although she has decided to pursue her career in the United States, the young woman has her own production company in Milan, with which she is "cooking up" a series and a film.

After her participation in the famous film saga became known, many must already be eager to see her on the big screen. And the good news is that they won't have to wait until next year to see her, because in November the Bosé series premieres in which she is part of the cast.
